Meeting Minutes-August 2007

 

  1. Welcome and introductions-Judy Metzger
  2. Pastor’s Report-Fr. Reszel
    1. Fr. Reszel welcomed all back from Summer break
    2. Fr. Reszel requested that a copy of meeting dates be forwarded to him so that he can adjust his schedule as he is able
  3. Principal’s Report- Mr. Campione
    1. The new gym floor was installed over the summer with funds from the Jungle Jubilee 2007
    2. The early childhood wing of the school was painted over the summer
    3. The FSO was thanked for purchasing the new furniture for the teachers lounge.
    4. Current enrollment is 469 students with 42 students in the current Kindergarten class.
    5. Parents were reminded to park near the football field if they are going into the school.
  4. President’s Report-Judy Metzger
    1. Returning and new board members were introduced.
    2. Folders were distributed to all board members with forms and tax id enclosed.
  5. Treasurer’s Report-Nicole Keenan
    1. Treasurer is currently changing over to Quick Books.
    2. Process for reimbursement was reviewed
    3. Funds greater than $500 need to be approved by the Executive Board
  6. Secretary’s Report-Teri Rao
    1. Secretary requested that committee updates be emailed if no member will be at the monthly meeting.
    2. Updates can be emailed to trrao@msn.com
  7. Committee Updates
    1. Christmas Bazaar-no report available
    2. Cultural Arts-no report available
    3. Book Fair-no report available
    4. Special Food Days-

1.       First day is scheduled for this week.

2.      Committee will confirm dates and update the SMS website as needed.

    1. Gym Uniforms-Lisa Vanco

1.      Certain sizes are currently sold out.

2.      Reordering was completed and part of order will arrive this week.

3.      Students need to label outfits on inside label only.

    1. Used Uniform-Joy Ito

1.      Sale took place during the first week of school

2.      Left over white shirts are being donated with Joy to coordinate.

    1.  School Store-Debbie Kny

1.      Debbie reported some difficulty with having door unlocked and she will coordinate with Tom Healy

2.      School Store will remain near room 235

3.      Additional assignment notebooks will be ordered and can be purchased through the school store.

 

    1. Parish Picnic-Sandy Cullen

1.      Parish Picnic is scheduled for September 30, 2007

2.      Assistance is needed between 1:00-3:00 for face painting.

3.      Individuals that are interested can return form that will be in Wednesday envelope or contact Sandy Cullen.

    1. Science Fair-currently being planned-please contact Donna Callen with questions.
    2. Hospitality-committee is awaiting volunteer list and is providing refreshments at the Section A meet the teacher night
    3. Legislative Representative-Michelle Yoder

1.      Will investigate using FSO mailing list

2.      email list will need to be updated

3.      Michelle will establish email account for this committee

    1. Membership-Barbara Rusinek

1.      Committee is currently compiling information from FSO registration

2.      A master list of all those volunteering for committees will be available in the FSO mailbox

3.      Individuals who need names of volunteers prior to the completion of the master list should contact Barbara directly.

    1. School Services-Colleen Welles and Carrie Kolz

1.      Picture day for grades K-8 will be held September 21 and preschool pictures will be October 2, 2007

2.      Committee is seeking individual to assist with school pictures.

3.      A flyer will be sent home in the Wednesday envelope or contact Colleen Welles and Carrie Kolz directly.

    1. Newspaper-

1.      Items for the FSO portion of the newsletter must be submitted in a word document.

2.      Pictures should be in JPG files.

3.      Deadline for items in the newsletter is the 5th of every month to jmmjag@aol.com

4.      Please contact Juanita Gomez-Mercado with questions

    1. Yearbook-Kelly Zadell

1.      Yearbook will be delivered the first week of September and will be distributed through the Wednesday envelope.

2.      A few extra copies will be available for purchase in the office.

3.      All are encouraged to submit pictures to Kelly for this year’s book however pictures will need to be submitted on a disk.

  1. New Business-Judy Metzger
    1. Women’s club is considering a career day for school age children-details to follow.
    2. Dominick’s fundraiser

1.      FSO is seeking an individual to coordinate a fundraiser with purchases through Dominick’s Food Stores

2.      Position will require the start up only

3.      Individuals that are interested should contact Judy Metzger

  1. Jingle Jubilee-Kelly Zadell
    1. Jingle Jubilee is scheduled for December 1st, 2007 at Independence Grove in Libertyville
    2. Funds raised will go to renovate the washrooms in the school
    3. The Jingle Jubilee Committee is actively looking for items that will be a part of the auction.
    4. If you have questions or would like to donate an item for the auction, please contact Kelly Zadell directly.
