MONTHLY MEETING-JANUARY 2008

 

1.  Opening Prayer-Father Reszel

2.  Pastor’s Report-Father Reszel

A.  Jingle Jubilee funds will go to 1st floor bathroom renovation to be completed this summer

B.  Catholic School week is this week

            1.  All are encouraged to attend

            2.  Mass honoring Catholic School Week was held January 27th

3.  Teacher Appreciation-Sandi Seidl

            A.  Catholic Schools Week information

1.  Teacher/Staff lunch is scheduled January 30th

2. The lunch will be catered by Bill Kron

3.  Drinks and cakes have been donated

                        B.  Parent Teacher Conferences

                                    1.  Volunteers are needed to help with food on 2/21                                                                  2.  Committee is seeking volunteers for 1-2 hours for set-up and clean-up

                                    3.  The FSO will provide pizza for the teachers

 

4.  President’s Report-Judy Metzger

            A.  Open Positions-

                        1.  Science Fair co-chair

                        2.  Membership-Directory

                                    a. Position will be divided into Membership and Directory

                                    b. Both positions are open

                        3.  Christmas Bazaar- 3 more open positions to co-chair

                        4.  Fall fundraiser needs to co-chair

                        5.  Christmas Family Event-new committee

a. Possible breakfast with Santa

            B.  Magazine Drive

                        1.  Currently underway

                        2.  All are encouraged to participate in the drive that benefits tuition assistance

                        3.  Orders can be made through order forms and via the St. Mary School website

5.  Principal’s Report-Mr. Campione

            A.  Open House-

                        1.  Hospitality Committee was thanked for assistance

                        2.  Tours were given by 8th grade students highlighting the school from 3 year old preschool thru 8th grade

            B.  Principal is currently working on budget for 2008-2009 school year

            C.  Principal is currently working on calendar for 2008-2009 school year which will be finalized by March 2008

6.  Vice-President’s Report-Karen Motzel and Celeste Schall

            A.  Parent Seminar-

1.  FSO has scheduled a parent seminar with the topic of “Bullying”

                        1.  Vice-President will confirm date for February 2008

                        2.  An evening and date time session will be scheduled

                        3.  Details to follow

            B.  Walk-A-Thon-

1.  The event has been scheduled for May 13th 2008

2.  Vice-President will meet with committee chairs Lisa Vanco and Tina Connor to start planning of the fundraiser

C.  Family skate Night

                        1.  The next Family skate night has been scheduled for March14th

                        2.  The rink will be available from 6:00-8:00 at Twin Rinks

                        3.  The committee is seeking parent volunteers to assist with the event

            D.  Pizza Night at Lou Malnati’s

                        1.  Order forms will go out the week of February 13th

                        2.  A portion of the sales will go to FSO

                        3   Orders will be due February 29th

                        4.  Delivery date will be March 5th between 1:30-4:00

                        5.  Additional detail will follow

            E.  Mom’s Rock t-shirt

                        1.  Vice President is currently getting bids on shirts

            F.  SMS magnet

                        1.  FSO is currently investigating production of car magnets

2.  Graphic will have picture of church and school

                        2.  Vice President is currently working with vendor to finalize graphics and price

7.  Treasurer’s Report-Nicole Keenan

            A.  Monthly Budget was reviewed

            B.  Cash Box Policy

                        1.  Procedure was developed for committees that are requesting a cash box for FSO events

                        1.  A request form is available in FSO mailbox

                        2.  Contact Nicole Keenan for additional information

8.  Committee Reports

            A.  Christmas Bazaar-Diane Gavin

                        1.  Committee is currently looking at other vendors for next school year’s Christmas Bazaar

                        2.  Committee will determine if items should be purchased on consignment

                        3.  Committee chairs completed an inventory of remaining items in the FSO storage space.

                        4.  Committee will discuss possibility of donating unsold items or selling at discounted price at next Christmas Bazaar

            B.  Cultural Arts-

                        1.  Committee is seeking additional funds to scheduled an another event

                        2.  Brenda Rengers will work with Board to schedule as appropriate

                        3.  Topic may focus on dance or music

            C. Chess Club-Judy Metzger

                        1.  Will begin March 7th

                        2.  Chess Club is scheduled on 6 Fridays during the Spring from 2:20-3:30

                        3.  Chess Club is open to St. Mary students in grades k-8th grade

                        4.  All levels are welcome and experienced players can assist with teaching

                        5.  Cost will be 15$

            D. Dominic’s program-Joy Ito

                        1.  Currently finalizing detail of the program

                        2.  Details to follow

            E.  Gym Uniforms-Lisa Vanco

                        1.  Still awaiting youth small short

                        2.  Committee is working on finalizing the order for the 2008-2009 school year

                        3.  Committee is seeking bids from other vendors

            F.  General Mills Program-Nicole Keenan

                        1.  A new incentive program will be scheduled for February 2008 for General Mills

                        2.  Last drive brought in over $700 to the Family and School Organization

                        3.  Committee will meet with Mr. Campione to finalize details

                        4.  Details will be sent in Wednesday envelope

            G.  Movie Night-

                        1.  Free Willy is scheduled for February 29

                        2.  Hawaiian Luau will be the theme

                        3.  The final movie night is scheduled for April 4th

                        4.  Details will follow in the Wednesday envelope

            H.  Hospitality Committee-Nancy Ritz

                        1.  Committee thanked attendees for donations and assistance at St. Mary School Open house on January 27th

                        2.  Committee discussed the amount of food that was purchased and areas for change for next Open House

            I. Legislative Rep-Mr. Campione

                        1.  St. Mary School will receive 32$ per student from the Federal Government

                        2.  Funds will be used to cover the cost of safety policy at school including background checks

                        3.  The program is currently underway

            J.  Membership-Judy Metzger

                        1.  Discussion occurred with suggestions on ways to improve the workload for the Membership committee

2.  Committee members suggested an earlier deadline date for directory information

3. Committee suggested deadline in August

                        4.  New families could be added after the initial documents is completed

            K.  Roller Skating Party-Maureen Orsini

                        1.  Next scheduled for 4/11 from 6:00-8:00

                        2.  Grades 1-4 are invited to attend

                        3.  Please address questions to Maureen Orsini

            L.  School Service-Carrie Kolz-Colleen Welles

                        1.  Kindergarten Pictures and 8th grade pictures are scheduled for 2/12

                        2.  Volunteers are needed for assistance with Kindergarten pictures

                        3.  Committee will utilize the volunteer list to find help

                        4.  Please contact Carrie Kolz or Colleen Welles with questions

            M.  Science Fair-Maureen Orsini

                        1.  Committee reported on successful Science Fair 2007

                        2.  The Science Fair utilized over 60 judges from the parish, community and the school

                        3.  Committee is seeking addition chairs for the 2008-2009 school year

                        4.  Sponsorship program will be eliminated for the next year

            N.  Yearbook-details to come

            O.  Used uniforms-have been donated

9.  Fundraiser Information Presentation

            A.  Susan Hannum from Midland Fund Raising gave a presentation on products that are available form Midland

            B.  Questions were answered and products made available for the committee to review

            C.  Details of Fall Fundraiser will follow

10.  The next Family and School Organization meeting is scheduled for February 25th, 2008 at 8:00 in the St. Mary School cafeteria
