Dear Parent,

Thank you so much for volunteering to be a lunch parent for our room. We appreciate the time you will be giving supervising our class. We ask that you please take a few moments to read the following directives with regards to the procedures of our lunchroom.

The teachers will lead the children to the lunchroom and the lunch parent will follow at the end of the line. The lunch parent will take the basket to the lunchroom and place it at the rear of the lunchroom. (There are signs designating where each basket will go). The playground equipment bag should be included in the basket. The children who bring their lunches will go directly to their specified tables while the hot lunch recipients will walk to the counter with their teacher.

As the lunch parent supervisor, it will be your duty to watch two tables to which your class is assigned. The children may ask you to open a package, cut something, or ask for assistance if there is a spill. Posted in the lunchroom are the lunchroom rules that all the children are to follow. Mr. Campione met with all the Section A children and teachers to discuss these rules the first day of school. We ask that you help us enforce these rules. The rules are as follows:

  1. Be seated when you eat.
  2. Use inside voices.
  3. Clean your space when you have finished eating.
  4. Stay seated, raise your hand and ask permission to throw ALL garbage away at one time.
  5. No visiting between tables.
  6. Place lunch boxes in your homeroom basket
  7. Walk at all times.
  8. Dismissal time from the lunchroom for Section A is at 11:35 a.m.
  9. Winter Dismissal is at 11:40 a.m. If raining, 11:35. Line children up after they finish eating and go to classroom. 4th graders will wash down the tables. It is not important to wait for the class, you need to be in the classroom.

If the children do not follow the rules, please use the Lunch Conduct Referral slip. There is a time out table and we can ask the child to eat lunch there. The most important thing is that we are consistent in what we do with the children.

Parent supervisors will spray and wipe down tables. Spray and paper towels will be available. In the event that there is inclement weather, you will bring the children back to their homeroom to watch a video or play games. You will not be required to wash tables on these days.

The children are not allowed to return to their classroom once they are in the lunchroom. When the children have left the lunchroom, the lunch parent will bring the basket and equipment bag back to the homeroom.
